A clear sign given to us by God as evidence that the Bible is true, and Jesus Christ is real is the Bible Codes, the phenomenon of hidden words encoded in the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament of the Bible close to each other in equidistant letter sequences (ELS). The Bible codes were brought to the world's attention through American journalist Michael Drosnin, whose book The Bible Code (Simon and Schuster, 1997) was an international best-seller. Michael Drosnin predicted in 1994, the 1995 assassination of Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, using a Bible code technique. He approached the phenomenon as a detached journalist without the bias of Christian faith. How do the Bible Codes ELS work? Let's look at an example. In this letter sequence is encoded the word Jesus: EJWQDEFJHSYRHUQNCS. If you start with J and skip every four letters you find the word Jesus: EJWQDEFJHSYRHUQNCS That is a simple code, but there are many complex codes in the Bible creating word clusters, even sentences that go way beyond natural chance. You can buy the program yourself and make your own discoveries! (I recommend Doko Media) A finding that I made on March 29th 2007 in Isaiah 53, the chapter that talks about the suffering servant, ultimately foreshadowing the passion of Jesus Christ, goes to the heart of why Jesus came to Earth, and verifies the prophetic truths of Isaiah. These are the words (translated from Hebrew into English) I found with the skip distances and the verses they originate in: The overwhelming odds of this occuring by chance validate the Bible as the word of God and Jesus Christ as Messiah. Even more remarkable are the verses that these words are clustered around:
Isaiah 53:4 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."
The prophet Isaiah, writing hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus (Isaiah lived during the late eighth and early seventh centuries BC), is talking about a Saviour dying, taking the punishment for our sins! God put this code into the text to show contemporary generations that Jesus Christ is the only way to Him. Even the song "Amazing grace" appears in this extraordinary code, both those two words emanating from Isaiah 53:5, the verse that goes to the heart of the salvation message! Moreover, Yacov Rambsel, an eminent Biblecode scholar and Messianic Jew, found something truly remarkable in the same chapter of the suffering servant of Isaiah 53: every 12th Letter in Hebrew spells "JESUS IS MY NAME"! Exceptional coincidence? You decide. I believe that it is truly God's grace that we can be saved through Jesus Christ, and He wants to reveal that to each one of us through a variety of means. Perhaps He is touching your heart now.
Mel Gibson's Blockbuster "The Passion Of The Christ", so successful at the Box Office, can be found in the Bible Code. In Isaiah 14 verse 25 no less than six key words can be found. The numbers in parentheses represent the skip distance:
Some interesting points come out of this. In 2003 during the making of the film, the actor who played Jesus, Jim Caviezel was struck with lightning. Like Jesus when he was crucified, Jim was 33 years old during the filming, and has the initials JC like Jesus Christ. The skip distance then of 233 is not insignificant. The word salvation is encoded from Isaiah 15:2 at exactly the same skip distance, 233! It's worth looking at the verses that these words formed by ELS are encoded:
In referring to the future overthrow of the Assyrians from God's people, it is prophecied that "his yoke shall depart from off of them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders." (Isaiah 14:25). It is not insignificant that in Matthew 11 verse 28-30, Jesus says "Come to me all you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." When Jesus shed his blood on the cross, He literally took away the oppressive burden of man's greatest enemy of the soul, sin, from off of him, conditional only on receiving Him, The Lord Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour.
