In his poem "The Abiding Love" John White Chadwick puts it excellently this way: "Whate'er betides, thy love abides, Our God, forever more." Job did not see it that way during the initial stages of his suffering. Have you ever felt that God is distant? That He doesn't really care? In Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:5, and Hebrews 13:5 God says, "Never will I leave you nor foresake you." Never? Yes that's what He says in His Word so take Him at His Word! The trouble is that we leave God and forsake Him when we sin. But when Jesus died on the cross and rose again to reconcile us to God, we have the absolute assurance from the throne of Heaven that our Creator will be with us always so great is His love for us. If things are tough right now, He has something extra to give you from His immeasurable love that He has for you. And if God's around, things can't be that bad can they?! What's more, He has a solution to whatever your facing. He's provided it in Jesus. John 16 verse 33 in Jesus' own words says, " These things have I spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Let's never forget that in living in the victory of Christ, "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4)
Job did not take the advice of his wife to "curse God and die." (Job 2:9) The Bible says that God "restored the losses of Job when he prayed for his friends." (Job 42:10) Always remember that even when you're facing hardship, there's someone out there that needs your love and prayers. 1 Corinthians 13:8 says that "love never fails." Draw on the fountain of God's eternal love today, and allow Him to do something miraculous in you and through you for His glory.
