The UNKNOWN SOLDIER Fact File
by The Time Trust

It is my desire to gather all the information known on the American agent codename: "The Unknown Soldier" into one place. In so doing, I have written a brief history of the Soldier and have composed a Chronology which deals mainly with his postwar activities. His World War II activities are harder to date and therefore will require a bit more work.

The reports of the Unknown Soldier's activities often seem to conflict, as pertaining to his character. As I've gone through all the records of his activities which I've uncovered, including several eyewitness accounts, it begins to seem as if we are dealing with more than one Soldier here. And yet, there's nothing conclusive.

It is sometimes startling to see how different people perceive the Soldier. Some see him as a fanatically patriotic American agent who would do absolutely anything for his country, no matter how despicable. Others see him as a James Bond-like super-spy with a conscience who despises the secret and sometimes less-than-holy missions he has undertaken for the American Government. Still others see him as an old-fashioned American hero.

He is none, and all, of these things. This is the official story, known to the public, and popularized in various forms of media, most notably the comic magazine UNKNOWN SOLDIER, published by DC Comics. I call it for what it truly is: disinformation...

HISTORY

The unnamed man who became the Unknown Soldier joined the army in the early days of WWII, along with his older brother Harry. Both were assigned to the same unit in the Pacific islands, where Harry was killed saving his brother from a Japanese grenade. The explosion hideously disfigured the young man's face beyond repair.

Harry had said that one man in the right place could mean the difference in winning a battle, and his brother took this to heart. He became a one-man undercover agent, and trained to the peak of physical perfection. He became skilled in make-up, and learned how to impersonate almost anyone. From his base at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, the Soldier traveled to both the European and Pacific theaters of World War II to be in the right place at the right time.

His exploits became legendary; of all the American war heroes who haunted Adolf Hitler, the Soldier became the most hated. The Soldier on occasion would team with other government agents such as the black jazz player Chat Noir and O.S.S.'s Sparrow. While his fame spread throughout the war, he was often opposed and even thwarted by his German opposite number, the Black Knight.

The Soldier was rumored to have infiltrated Hitler's Berlin bunker as the war was ending in Europe in 1945. He "helped" the Fuhrer commit suicide, then left the bunker. The Soldier was then apparently killed while saving a child from an explosion in the streets of Berlin, thus ending his career as it had begun with his older brother's selfless act.

ABILITIES AND WEAPONS

The Soldier's greatest skill was his ability to disguise himself as almost anyone, playing a range of roles from a lone G.I. to Hitler himself. The Soldier was schooled in a number of key foreign languages and also learned numerous vocal tricks to further aid his masquerades. He was, however, given away by his constant neck scratching, caused by his latex masks irritating his scarred flesh.

He was also an expert in the use of hand weapons, as well as explosives and larger, more potent weapons. His hand-to-hand combat skills were superb.

That, as I said, is the official story. However, as always when it comes to American Intelligence, that's only part of the story, and while not false, it is most definitely not the whole story.

In searching out various scattered reports of the activities of the American Intelligence agent who could only be the Soldier, I have pieced together his true history, as best as can be written in the present. And I have come to the conclusion that we are dealing with either two Unknown Soldiers, or a man with a severe split personality.

Any and all further information is welcome. I am hoping that keeping this information public will prevent my being forcibly "silenced" by the Company. Few with the kind of information I have in my hands have lived to talk of it.

The following is a brief biography of the Unknown Soldier, and for my own purposes, I shall hereby refer to them as two men: U.S.-1 and U.S.-2

The next link is an expanded timeline of the Soldiers' history, as best as I could piece together (there are gaps in their World War II activities, especially concerning exactly when some of their exploits actually happened, and his post-war activities, although most are correctly dated, are largely unknown):
