This warrior represents the people of Rakiura (Stewart Island). It can be assumed that the name
of this warrior is Te Rakitamau
after whom the island gets its name. Te Rakitamau married a young woman named Hine-rau
who became seriously ill and asked her husband to go in search of her cousin so they could
become married upon  her death.
Te Rakitamau crossed Te Moana Tapokopoko a Tawhiki Fouveaux Strait) to find her but when
he arrived was told that she had just been married to a local warrior. Upon hearing this he
blushed and from then on the island was humourously referred to as Te Ura o Te Rakitamau
(the blush of Rakitamau) which was shortened to Rakiura.
