Chton is an ancient evil demon that scripted the Darkhold as a means of returning to earth after his banishment. During one attempted return, he encountered the men of the High Evolutionary and was defeated. Before he was banished back to his nether-realm, he reached out to a newborn baby -- Wanda Maximoff. Chton later used Modred the Mystic to capture the Scarlet Witch in order to bring about his possession of her. Although he succeeded, the Avengers defeated him and he was forced to retreat once again.
