Mantis

Mantis was trained by the Priests of Pama in order to become highly skilled in the area of martial arts. She eventually met a former Avenger, the Swordsman, and the two returned to the Avengers. Aiding the team on several missions, Mantis proved herself a highly-effective combatant, though she was making an enemy of the Scarlet Witch by attempting to seduce the Vision. It was only after the Swordsman was killed and Mantis was chosen as the Celestial Madonna did she realize how much she had loved him. Mantis wed a member of the Cotati, a sentient alien race of plants, in order to birth the Celestial Messiah. After this experience, she briefly returned to the west coast branch of the Avengers before disappearing for some months. Now she has allied herself with her long time enemy, Kang, and two young men (who may be the sons of Wanda) who serve Kang and call Mantis "Mother."
