The West Coast branch of the Avengers came together to strengthen the efforts of the original team (to protect earth from superhuman and alien threats). Vision and the Scarlet Witch joined their ranks after the team split due to the events surrounding Hawkeye and Mockingbird's separation. It was during this time that Wanda suffered her greatest losses, but it was also when she rose to the challenge of leadership, ending her status as "victim."
