After several members left the West Coast Avengers, Vision and the Scarlet Witch joined. What followed would be Wanda's darkest hour.
Fearing his potential to overtake the earth, the world's governments had the Vision dismantled. Though his body (or rather the pieces of his body) was recovered, he no longer possessed any emotion or love for his wife. The man whom Vision's brain patterns had been based on, Simon Williams (aka Wonder Man), refused to allow his mind to be copied again. In truth, Simon himself had always loved Wanda and couldn't bare to see her with his "brother" any longer. They fairytale marriage of the Scarlet Witch was completely destroyed.
Next Wanda was kidnapped and brainwashed by That Which Endures to guide their group as the ultimated mutant. She was freed with the help of all three Avengers' franchises (including the Great Lakes).
Worse, Wanda soon learned that her twins were only magical constructs, unconsciously formed by her from mystical portions of the demon lord Mephisto. His servant, Master Pandemonium, took the twins and converted them back to their true demonic forms. Wanda was shattered.
The next individual to take advantage of the Scarlet Witch was the Deviant, Ghaur. He hoped to use Wanda as one of the seven brides of Set, a demonic Elder God who manifested himself as a giant seven-headed serpent.
The combined affect of these experiences left Wanda in a catatonic state, and during the chaos dubbed "Acts of Vengence" (a villain free-for-all led by the Norse god, Loki), Magneto took his daughter and killed Wonder Man in the process.
