The Brunali
The Brunali are an agricultural people who are skilled at genetics. Their world was devastated by an onslaught of Borg attacks for many years, and it lies at the mouth of a Borg transwarp conduit. Whenever the Brunali begin rebuilding their civilization, the Borg return and destroy it.
The Brunali are capable of space flight, but their technology isn't nearly as advanced as the Borg's. The Brunali love their homeworld deeply, and they refuse to leave it, despite constant Borg attacks. In order to fight the Borg, they created a virus and implanted it in a genetically engineered child named Ichep. They placed Ichep in a small vessel and sent him to the Borg conduit. When the Borg assimilated him, the virus spread throughout the cube he was on. All drones were destroyed. However, a handful of Borg children managed to survive. One of them was Ichep. Ichep and the Borg children now live on the starship Voyager.
Voyager visited the Brunali homeworld in 2376. They had planned on returning Ichep to his parents. When they did, they sent Ichep back to the Borg conduit in hopes of destroying another cube. Voyager rescued Ichep once again, and the crew set a course away from the planet.
