The Vidiians


Humanoid race native to the Delta Quadrant. The Vidiians were once known as a society of educators,artista, and explorers. Two millenia ago the Vidiians were stricken by the phage. The phage was a terrivle disease which destroyed the organs of the Vidiians bodies. The Vidiians survived through the wide spread use of organ transplantation. The Vidiians needs were so great that they captured individuals of other species to serve as involuntary organ donors. The Vidiian Sodality developed sophisticated medical technology to make the organ transplantations possible. In 2371 two Vidiias stole Neelix's lungs. Kes gave up one of her lungs so Neelix could live and the Vidiian wouldn't die. (Phage VOY) In 2371 a Voyager away team comprimising of Paris, Torres, and Durst were captured by the Vidiians. Torres was split into two beings. One Klingon and one human. Chakotay was altered to look like a Vidiian and beamed through the force field to rescue the team. The Klingon Torres and the human Torres worked together to escape. The away teamed got back to Voyager, but Durst was killed in the process. Torres was restored to her original self. (Faces VOY) The next contact with the Vidiians came in 2372. Voyager was caught in a spcial scission and a duplicate Voyager was created. Only one of the two ships could survive. The Janeway of the duplicate Voyager allowed her ship to delf destruct so the Vidiians wouldn't take control of the vessel. Before to vessel exploded Ensign Kim and Baby Wildman escaped the Vidiians and went to the other Voyager to replace their duplicates who had died. The duplicate Voyager was destroyed and the Vidiian ship was destroyed along with it. (Deadlock VOY) When Janeway was being attacked by a conciousness parasite she dreamed that Vidiina attacked the shuttle that Chakotay and her were on. The Vidiians killed Janeway twice, but in reality she didn't die. She defeated the conciousness parasite. The Vidiians had never attacked the shuttle. Since then Voyager has moved beyond Vidiian space.
