Unfortunately, Tamil is loosing its significance in ed cated families and affluent who are proud to embrace western culture and languages. It is pity some pretend as though they are inferior if they are seen speaking Tamil or Dress in Tamil cultural way. Thier children are brough of in an alien envrionment de oid of proud heritage of Tamil. This is more so among the socalled NRI families. It is amusing when some of them feel so superior that even if they meet another Tamilian, they avoid mingling or exchanging some pleasantries. I had observed many times that n public places, when you are close enough they immediately switch over to English as though it is below their dignity to be seen speaking Tamil languages. Even while introducing another frined in a group English is the medium. We have become so much obce sed with English style that is is a sin if you speak in Tamil if you are in the company of educated elite. Could you please get some nice articles on the importance of unity among Tamils and the dangerous trend engulfing Tamil community by neglecting to impart Tamil culture in the young minds. I am indeed sorry that I have to write this in English since I am n t familiar with Mylai font yet. |
