Based on the recommendations of TamilNet 99, the Government of Tamil Nadu released a Government Order, adopting the Tamil Keyboard Standard and Glyph Encoding System in a function held on 13th June 1999.

    Kamban Text Editor Mr. Vasu Devan of Kamban Softwares, Sydney, Australia has developed a Text Editor based on TN encoding.
    The package includes TABmadurai, TAMmadurai Tamil fonts for use with the Text Editor.

    III. Bilingual TAB-Encoding based Fonts and Keyboard Editors
    for use in UNIX OS

    Bitmapped fonts Mr. Subramanian has made a bitmapped font face corresponding to the TAB encoding for use in Unix platform. He has successfully tested in HP-UX 10.2.

    Akaram Text Editor Mr. Chinnasamy Nagarajan has developed a Text Editor called akaram text editor based on the Tamilnadu TAB encoding.
