This web site has been dedicated to the Irish Language, which has in the recent hundred years or so been seriously endangered by the all-pervasive influence of English. To counteract this tendency, I have been pursuing a consequent policy of treating English on those pages as a foreign language. So, while there always is an Irish version of any texts available on this site - with the exception of the pages directed only to non-Irish speakers such as the Irish language FAQ - there is an English version available only in those cases that there also is a German, a Swedish, and a Finnish one. That, at least, is the policy, but I am often too busy to live up to it.
Tá an láithreán seo dílsithe don Ghaeilge, teanga bhundúchasach na hÉireann a bhfuil tíorántacht an Bhéarla ag bagairt uirthi le tuairim is céad bliain anuas. Le mo bheagán féin a chur in éadan an chlaonaidh seo, tá mé ag caitheamh leis an Bhéarla ar na leathanaigh seo mar nach mbeadh ann ach teanga iasachta eile. Mar sin, siúd is go bhfuil leagan Gaeilge le fáil d'ábhar ar bith ar an láithreán seo - ach amháin de leathanaigh na bhfoghlaimeoirí, ar nós na "gceisteanna minic a thig" - is é an polasaí nach bhfuil leagan Béarla le fáil mura bhfuil ceann Gearmáinise, ceann Sualainnise agus ceann Fionlainnise ann comh maith. Bhail, sin é an polasaí, ach bím róghnoitheach go minic leis na leaganacha uilig a sholáthar comh sciobtha le chéile - is minic ceann nó cúpla ceann acu ar lár.
However, there is a change of policy well under way. If I am granted enough life to realise the plan, the English language will be reduced down to minimum as soon as possible, and when I'll complete my Web Irish Course for English speakers and make it available at this site, the English language will disappear completely from this site, with the exception of the Síocháin page, the learning materials, the FAQ and what is necessary to show the surfer the way to the Irish course pages.
Tá athrú polasaí ar na bacáin, áfach. Má aostar domh, chan fhágaim ach an íosmhéid riachtanach den Bhéarla anseo: nuair a chríochnóchas mé Líon-Chúrsa Gaeilge do lucht an Bhéarla, agus é a chur ar fáil ar an láithreán seo, scriosfar cibé blúirín Béarla atá anseo anois, amach ón leathanach ar a gcardáltar cúrsaí na síochána sa Tuaisceart agus na míniúcháin atá de dhíth lena chur ar chumas fhear siúlta an Eadarlín úsáid a bhaint as an chúrsa Gaeilge.
This Web Site is not directed to English speakers. It is built and expanded according to the needs of Irish speakers and learners. This is no hiding place for the most deadly foe of the Irish language, and indeed the most deadly foe of all small languages and all the alternative cultures of the world - the English language, the mother tongue of exploitation, commercialism, oppression, and even genocide.
Chan ar mhaithe le lucht an Bhéarla a cuireadh an láithreán gréasáin seo ar bun. Tá sé á thógáil, á fhairsingiú agus á chur in atheagar le freastal ar riachtanaisí lucht na Gaeilge thar aon dream eile. Chan folachán é seo do bhíobha bunaidh na Gaeilge, do bhíobha bunaidh na mionteangacha is na mionchultúr uilig dá maireann ar dhroim an domhain - an SacsBhéarla, teanga dhúchais an dúshaothraithe, an ghaimbíneachais, an leatroma agus fiú an chinedhíothaithe.
