Iwakuni weather: MCAS Iwakuni is located in the Yamaguchi prefecture in
southwestern Honshu, Japan, approximately 19 miles south-southwest of
Hiroshima. They say snowfall is rare. However, the two winters I have been here
it has snowed. It is usually not accumulative snowfall. It is not unusual to
have snow flurries with no clouds overhead. This happens because of the strong winds in the mountains blowing snow
down on to the Air Station. In March it becomes very nice. Then in
August-September it is truly the summer months. It gets very hot and humid. I
have heard Iwakuni weather compared to that of North Carolina. On most Japanese
weather station maps, I use the Yamaguchi prefecture forecast.
