The Cornice Duct System was developed in response to a solicitation from the Department of Energy that requested an aesthetically pleasing method of moving the forced-air ducted system of a residence inside the conditioned space. If such a method could be developed and marketed effectively, the system could save 30-40% on energy costs for each home by reducing the loss of energy through leaky and poorly insulated ducts. Any "loss" from a system within the conditioned space is not a loss per se; the energy is still being transferred to the occupied and insulated spaces instead of being wasted outside.
