Speaking | |
Anecdotes | Anecdotes are a short story that's useful for making a point. |
Audience | To have a successful speech, you must know your audience before you speak. |
Children, speaking to | Speaking to children is different than speaking to adults. However, the skills we learn in our clubs applies to children too. |
Court, speaking in | Unfortunately we may have to testify in court. Our Toastmaster skills can help here too. |
Evaluation | Evaluation by our peers is an important part of how we improve in Toastmasters. It's also a skill we use whenever a coworker says, "what do you think about this?" Evaluations are also an important impromptu speaking opportunity. |
Example speeches | A collection of example speeches and example speech outlines. |
Impromptu speeches (long speeches) |
What if we need to give a speech on short notice? In this case we usually have some time to organize our speech. We just need to make effective use of that time. |
Impromptu speeches (short speeches) |
We are often asked for our opinions in meetings or when working. Table topics helps us respond in an intelligent way. |
Introductions | An introduction is a mini-speech that's designed to set the speaker being introduced up for success. |
Officers, speeches by | As officers, we often give speeches to persuade others to participate in an event or program. The basic and advanced manuals have guidelines for the speeches officers need to make. |
Prepared speeches | When people think of Toastmasters, most think of improving their prepared speeches. More ideas for prepared speeches can be found at one of Toastmasters International's web pages. |
Stories | Stories are useful for both entertainment and making a point. It's fun to sit a round a campfire and tell stories. Stories are also an excellent way to make a point. Here are I like to tell. I will change the stories when I get a chance. About my collection of stories. |
