I was born and raised in Michigan in the 1960's, and
in January of 1981 moved to Honolulu, HI. I lived there up until
April of 1998, and now live in the desert of Nevada. I love it
here! Cost of living is less, I travel more, and I get to
experience the seasons again.
My family is spread out all over the place, with NONE of them
living near me...actually my parents did winter here for many years.
Unfortunately in June of 2000, I lost my Dad after a very swift battle with cancer.
I am not sure if my mother will visit me or not. I have family spread from Alaska to Michigan to Georgia. We really cover the US!
I recently underwent a challenge - I lost my faith in the power of Love. The Gods have a way of laughing whenever I lose faith, and send to me EXACTLY what I need...and I will usually balk kicking and screaming.
I met a man who became a friend through a quirk of faith. (divine intervention?) We had a lot in common, and enjoyed talking about...well...everything.
Dispite my best intentions, I have fallen deeply in love. I feel blessed, for I have not felt this way for any other. I felt I was destined to finish out my life alone...and the Universe had other plans.
We are working together on some projects, and just basically enjoying life. I wish everyone the kind of happiness I have found!
My Son, is also active in the Craft which he
has been learning since he was 8. (He is now 19.) He is a
member of a Celtic Guild in Alaska, and is currently learning
Latin, German and Gaelic in order to read the "old"
documents of the craft. Way to go!
I came to a turning point in my life where I didn't believe
in the faith that I grew up with, and I didn't have one in place. A wise
friend of mine told me to search for a higher power of my understanding...
and I did. So I began a quest to find a "God of my understanding."
This lead to an amazing series of "God
Shots." I was reading the "Knights of Ghosts and
Shadows" by Mercedes Lackey and began to wonder if any of
this stuff she wrote about was "real."
To research this, I read "Celtic Magick" by
D.J. Conway, and at the same time stumbled upon a Wiccan group on
Prodigy. There, I received support, encouragement, guidance and
friendship that I am forever grateful for. The God I "came
to believe" evolved into my beliefs of a Mother Earth /
Father Skye that I honor today.
I consider myself an Eclectic Witch--or one who
follows a path of their own making. My path is a blend of Wiccan,
Lakota, Celtic and Hawaiian elements that works for me. I have never
pushed my faith on others...I rarerly speak face to face with anyone
about my beliefs. Only here to I feel free to discuss them. My partner
walks a more traditional Christian path...and we honor each other's beliefs.
It is too bad that more people don't do this! I am truly blessed though
to have someone in my life that does this.
One of the things many people do while
practicing Wicca, is to take on a "Craft" name. Much as
a person may be dedicated or baptized with a saint's name, a
Wiccan takes on a name that honors their choice of this religion.
During meditation in 1992, my spirit
guide gave me the name Spirit Dancer. At first I was disappointed
with the name. I wanted an animal name -- maybe Eagle something.
When I told my teacher, a Lakota Shaman,
my name he told me to be honored. A Spirit Dancer is one who
walks the web between the worlds of the living and the dead. It
is a dangerous position, but one that can be rewarding too.
Since that time I have had 3 different
times were I was either the last person who saw someone alive, or
with a person when they died. I helped with comforting loved ones
left behind -- and with two of them I received dreams that they
were "in a better place." I now consider it an honor to
be a Spirit Dancer.
Oh, and given there is another Spirit
Dancer on the web, I changed my first name to Spyrit. So that is
the story!
Soooo, what do I do in the REAL world? Well, I have a
boring, mundane job that pays the bills. I also work as a
free-lance graphic artist and web designer, and am trying to get a business off
the ground with my partner and lover. We have formed a company called
Pixel Pie and am
currently working on designing two sites for customers. We have been so
busy doing that, I haven't had time to develop our own website. *grin*
Learning about the craft, and studying the way of the
shaman is #1 I also love to bicycle, swim, box, lift weights,
download stuff from the net, read Wiccan, si-fi fantasy, mystery
and romance books . I have also gotten totally addicted to Unreal
Tournament and play when ever I get a chance. AND I FINALLY
HAVE DSL!!! IT IS THE BEST!!!
