Comments: Many science topics are explored in depth at this website and exhibits are changed periodically. Some of the special links to follow are:    (1)  The Heart:    Explore the different parts of the heart and learn how each functions,   (2)  Units of Study:     There is one on Living Things   (cells,   plants,   animals,   microorganisms, etc.)     and another on Wind,     (3)  Minutes from ME:     Quick science activities    (some are pre-reader activities for learning how to use a PC!),    (4)  World-Wide Web Notebook:     Learn basic skills for exploring the web,    (5)   Scientists in The City and Water in The City offer resources for investigating your neighborhood,     (6)  Earthforce:     information on Volcanoes,  Earthquakes,   Floods,   Tsunamis,   and Avalanches,  (7)  Undersea and Oversee:     everything you want to know about the ocean and ocean life,   (8)  Flights of Inspiration:    explore a century of aviation history,   (9)  Franklin...He's Electric:    learn some facts about Ben Franklin's accomplishments,     (10)  inQuiry Almanack:    look at the monthly online magazine--get even MORE science ideas and see what other teacher's are doing that you may be able to use...there is an archive of these also.   There are even links to online schools and other science websites.

Ontario Science Centre: The Interactive Zone

GRADE LEVEL: All Ages; Secular

Comments:   A fantastic,   fun site...I played with this with my daughter for an hour or so!    Learn while you do some neat science activities:
1)  Choose YOUR MIND and find:   Spin-O-Vision,  Animal Camouflage,  Tress Test and Stroop Effect
2) Choose YOUR BODY and find:    Constipation Concentration   (ok...ok....so it is a little rude to hear those body noises in this concentration-like game...but you will learn WHY our bodies make these noises sometimes!),  Eyes Have It or Don't They,  Stand Like a Stork,  Do the Patrick,  Heart Beats,   and Marvelous Exploding Zit
3)   Choose NEW IN THE ZONE and find:     Give Your Computer A Raspberry,   Fan Dance,  Wanna See a Scan Line and the Computer Knows
4)  Choose COLOUR PLAY and find:   Mixing Light,  Computer Crayons and Get the Drop on Pixels--great for studying what happens when colored lights are mixed!

The Last Word Science Questions and Answers

GRADE LEVEL: All Ages; Secular

Comments:     Ever hear a pre-schooler ask,   "Why is the sky blue?"  or   "Why don't penguins' feet freeze?"     This web site provides a  "collection of everyday science questions and answers drawn from the pages of New Scientist,  the world's leading weekly science and technology magazine".    The questions are categorized so you can study a section at a time or just browse and have some fun!    Follow the Science Site Reviewslink and see a whole host of web sites listed by science topic.

Automotive Learning Online--InnerAuto.com

GRADE LEVEL: Middle School-Adult; Secular

Comments: An interactive learning site where you can learn about all the 10 systems in an automobile.   Click on a yellow  "flag"  and you will get a drop down box with details about that section within the chosen system.   Lots to learn here!    See selected animations which will also lead to a greater understanding of a combustion engine or search for a particular subject.  Happy exploring.

Bill Nye the Science Guy's Nye Labs Online

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

Comments: A good place to start is at the  "Episode Guides".   Here you can select what science topic you want to view among the MANY choices.   Get a list of titles of books to check out of your library on the subject and get a printable version of the main ideas.    Go to  "Home Demos"  section and get a list of 40 different experiments you can try at home.    If you like science experiments,  you will want to try alot of these.    Also provided are links to other places on the web where more information about any subject can be found.

Creation Science

GRADE LEVEL: Upper Middle School-Adult; Secular

Comments: "Here you will find many resources related to the study of origins and science from a creationist perspective.   Take a look at the Basics of Creation Versus Evolution show.   It will give you a good understanding of the creation message."

How Stuff Works

GRADE LEVEL: Middle School-Adult; Secular

Comments: Ever wonder how a telephone works?   a CD-player?   a gasoline engine?  a refrigerator?   ETC. ETC. ETC!   This site is marvelous for those of us who love to know what makes something  "tick"!   You can even sign up for a the HSW Newsletter--A new article gets added every week so sign up to receive your copy! Stop by and browse...wonderful pictured diagrams accompany the explanation.

GRADE LEVEL: Middle School-Adult; Secular

Comments: Founded by the National Institute for Science Education,.  this site is changed weekly and provides in-depth information explorations of   "the science behind the headlines."     Don't forget to check out the archive of articles here too for more information.   Interesting and exciting articles all should enjoy.

Comments: At this page,  you will need Shockwave...it takes awhile to load but is well worth the wait.   Experience how the circulatory,  respiratory,  digestive,  and muscular systems work.   Also learn how the eye and ear function.

If you follow the link at the bottom marked  "CONTENTS"  you can also select from these categories:  Kids,  Teens,  Parents and Miscellaneous.   Clicking on these categories will link you to many more health topics affecting that particular age group.   CAUTION:   Some topics in these various sections you will want to monitor or view with your child as sensitive issues may be discussed.   I found several helpful nutritious recipes in the Kids section!

Comments:   GRAPHICS INTENSIVE!  You won't believe this site!   A man chronicled the development of his child week-by-week and month- by-month.  See and hear fascinating multi-media slides and JAVA effects as you click on whatever week or month you want....see the cells divide,  see photos of the developing baby in the womb.   If you are like me,  you won't leave until you read it all!   I've never seen anything like it.
