The Norwegian newspapers have now given their judgement: It ranges from the very negative comments from the biggest newspaper in Norway, VG, which condemned Jarre's album to eternal darkness and called it "Electronic Lobotomy" to the newspaper Dagbladet, which gave him a dice with 5 dots.
It's not possible for a musical journalist to give an objective judgement in every genre. Maybe this VG-journalist is a lover of C&W, for all that I know!
My personal opinion is that the latest Oxygene-tracks from Jean Michel Jarre are tight and heavy, giving us the necessary injection since the failure of "Chronologie" (I almost didn't recover after that one!) . Jarre has once again got a tight grip on his synths. The best track is Oxygene 10. Jarre himself has chosen Oxygene 8 for his singles-production.
Of course Jarre has got some of the notes from the Original "Oxygene" into the new one. Some of the tracks sounds just like the Original. At the same time you can find some notes from "Magnetic Fields" as well.
