C. S. Lewis on Dogs and Cats
"My Name is Boomer!"
This is my twelve year old golden retriever Boomer who's my constant physical companion. God was pleased to give him to me so I might catch a glimpse of innocence, trust, loyalty, obedience, and eagerness to please.
Now, on the other hand, Boomer and I have companion; her name is Izzy (short for Isabela, I guess). She's also God's gift to teach patience, tolerance and forgiveness. I think C. S. Lewis knew Boomer and Izzy quite well for he wrote about them in the little book Letters to an American Lady: "We were talking about cats and dogs the other day and decided that both have consciences but the dog, being an honest and humble person, always has a bad one, but the cat is a Pharisee and always has a good one. When he [the cat] sits and stares you out of countenance he is thanking God that he is not as these dogs, or these humans, or even as these other cats!"
Boomer likes to dress up!
He assumes the position!
