Missoula in the Making: A brief history of the community.
THE GOLDEN VALLEY: Missoula, to 1883 by H. G. Merriam is an epic poem about the beginnings of Missoula - it's history and it's people.
A bit o'history. Read about the 25th U.S. Infantry Bicycle Corps, an African American unit stationed at Fort Missoula. In 1897 these military cyclists rode their bikes from Missoula, MT, to St. Louis, MO, a distance of some 1,900 miles.

Missoulian's
are a tight-knight group of people- some might call us a family.
There is often an unspoken rule in families that keeps certain
things "secret." Well, much of the wisdom contained in
this page might be considered "family secrets" by our
fair city's old-timers. But, who cares? Use these bargain tips
well, you won't regret it, and neither will your pocketbook.
Alliance for
the Wild Rockies:
Alliance for the Wild Rockies was formed in 1988 to meet the
challenge of protecting the Northern Rockies Bioregion from
habitat destruction and deforestation.
The International Wildlife Film Festival: The mission of the International Wildlife Film Festival is to foster knowledge and understanding of wildlife and habitat through excellent, honest wildlife films and other media. The IWFF was the first juried wildlife film competition in the world. It began in response to stereotypical wildlife films of the 1960's and 70's that portrayed wildlife as either fierce and dangerous or cute and cuddly. Check out their site for details on this years film and information on past festivals.
The Great Bear Foundation
The
Great Bear Foundation was established in 1982 to promote
