G8 summit: I would like to address the sad blow the left was delt at the G-8 summit. The blow I am obviously referring to is the sickening slaughter of activist Carlo Giuliani by a member of the Italian Police. On that day the entire left, from radical liberal to anarchist lost a very good man and even more of the supposed freedom of expression. Rage, caused by the refusal of the leaders and supposed representatives of the world caused outrage, and this led Carlo and many others to openly attack the Italian police. Instead of being sprayed down by the usual teargas, water cannon, and rubber bullets, the protesters were hit by something much more deadly: live ammunition. Carlo was unlucky enough to be hit by one of these projectiles of doom, and he fell almost instantly. If this was not enough, the jeep of the security forces than ran over his crumpled body. However, his death was not in vain. If anything, this just shows the world that we were not lying! We were right and always have been! Capitalism IS destroying lives and freedom, even bourgeois freedoms are being ever more trampled on. Take heart Comrades, this is not the end but only the beginning. The current anti-globalization movement has much steam and is actually being fueled by workers, living breathing workers and not just radical youth. We must now reach higher, above the petty protests with violence with no impact by only a few, or else I do fear this may fizzle and it will be years or decades before we again see a mass movement by the people with this type of attention and strength. This is why I support a full extension of the protests, and an "all or none principle." I believe if activists shall forcefully attempt to shutdown meetings by corporate leaders and their puppets, than let this force consist of ALL (or at least most) of the activists, not just actions on the part of a small group which shall inevitably fail. More, we must mobilize the workers themselves. This is a worker's struggle.
A Statement by the Communist Party USA
Sept. 11: The terrorist attacks that killed and wounded thousands of innocent people Sept. 11 are crimes that call for universal, worldwide condemnation. At this writing the toll of dead and wounded is not known but it is certain to number in the thousands, the deadliest terrorist attack ever.
