Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there were two women who never knew each other,
One you do not remember -
the other you call Mother.
Two different lives shaped to make yours one.
One became your guiding star -
the other became your sun.

The first gave you Life and the second
taught you to live in it.
The first gave you a need for Love
and the second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality,
the other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent,
the other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions,
the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile,
the other dried your tears.

One gave you up...
It was all that she could do.
The other prayed for a child...
And God led her straight to you.

And now you ask me through your tears
The age old question through the years:
Heredity or Environment -
Which are you the product of?

Neither my darling, neither-
Just two different kinds of Love.

NOTHING is GREATER than the  LOVE of a CHILD        The sweetest, the softest, the most gentle love of all.

Not flesh of my flesh nor bone of my bone
But never forget for an instant
You didn't grow under my heart
but in it.

                                                                                                              "Be it unto me"
                                                                                                             Luke 1:38

This page is my tribute to mothers who have given their children up for adoption.
I admire your courage and strength of character in attempting
to find a better life for your child.
You honor me. I am blessed. I remember you in my prayers.
That child is a child of God.
And God is smiling down upon both you and me today.
I feel it. I know it is so.

I was told at an early age that I would never be able to have children.
I married.  I had a surgical operation.  I was told the chance of success was slim.
We adopted our first son through a County Adoption Agency and brought him home at 11 days old.
The dogs and cats were happy and Mommy and Daddy cried tears of joy
as they held their new baby son in their arms.
Less than two years later the second precious son was adopted.  He was 12 days old, wrapped in marvel and a soft blue blanket as we entered our home.  More tears of joy were shed as his arrival  was welcomed by all!
When second son was six months old, I became pregnant.  I  gave birth to a third son.
Before that son was born, my 8 year old stepdaughter came to live with us on a permanent basis.

I was the mother of four wonderful children in the short time span of three and one half years!

My youngest son Elexis Nathan,
my only natural birth son,  was killed in an accident a few years ago.
My eldest son is married and when their son was born they named him
Nathan Elexis.

I am a Mother today...
I am a proud Grandma today...
only by the grace of God and the miraculous gift of adoption.

With a heart full of gratitude, I wish all birth mothers peace and love
along with a sincere thank you for your sacrifice.
A mother's heart never forgets.

Love,
Lindy
