2:00 p.m.
We were three women on a Lucy mission. Nothing was going to hold us back. We had pictures to take and grass and leaves to collect. We three, Becky, Sherry, and I (Eva), had a trip of a lifetime.
We went to the Roxbury House early that evening. We took pictures of ourselves sitting on the wall at first in front of the house. Someone in a car was getting out, but I couldn't catch the person in time to ask if we could go in. So we took our little pictures, then went around the back of the house and stood on the car and took pictures. Then we took turns hoisting each other up to peer over the wall in the backyard. I was pretty badly scraped up by that time.
After that, we drove over to Lucy's Ogden Drive House to see what we could see. Sherry told me to go up to the door and ask if we could go in. Becky and I got out and Sherry stayed in the car in case we needed to get away quickly. I knocked and a boy came to the door holding a dog. I told him that I was a teacher, so I wouldn't hurt him. I pleaded to let him let us come in, so he did, even though he was very nervous about it. Then Sherry yells out of the car, "HEY WAIT FOR ME!" just like Lucy did. So we went in and looked around, but we didn't get any pictures. I could not describe to you the feeling I had standing there in that house, knowing that Lucy and her family used to live there, it was just UNREAL! Then we asked the boy to take our picture sitting on the front porch. That is a moment that I will never forget. In the Home Video, there are a lot of pictures from that house.
Next Sherry drove us to The Comedy Store that used to be Ciro's where Lucy and Desi would hang out. We got to tour the place, but he wouldn't let us take any pictures. Becky and I were scared to death to walk through there, because we knew of all the weird stuff that had gone on in that place, so we were pretty well freaked out hanging on to each other and everything. Sherry knew how scared we were, and she went around a corner before we did, and she yelled back at us, "LOOK AT THAT CHAIR! IT'S ELEVATED!" There was a chair in the middle of the wall between two doors holding it up or something, and Becky and I did not know that, and we jumped and yelled while Sherry was rolling over laughing. It was awesome sitting there at those little tables while old big band type music was playing. Sherry later told me that the guy giving us the tour didn't hear that music. She had me again!
It was getting dark, so we all wanted to go back to the Roxbury House. We went and tried to videotape at night, which turned out hilarious if you could see it on tape, it's like watching The Blair Witch Project. Becky was using my camera to tape, and Sherry tried to use her's but had no luck. Becky kept saying that she saw something standing by the carport, but we really didn't see anything, but when you watch it on tape, there is something there. Then we noticed that there were 2 dots of light in the upstairs window, then they were gone.
We proceeded to walk around the corner, and I'm taping the whole time, then Sherry turned around really fast and yelled into the camera, and scared poor Becky and me to death. We go back to the alley again, but this time, they make me stand on a garbage can and look over. There we discovered that the pool is still there!! We then took turns standing on that garbage can for a better look. After that, we climbed the power lines a little to get another look. No harm was done, we didn't take anything or trespass in any way, just went for a better looksie! I am pretty well scratched up, but it was worth every bit of it. We heard a helicopter, so we decided to leave. Sherry then drove Becky and me on a long tour to try to get to Denny's to meet Liz and Benny. Sherry was having so much fun driving, she drove us right to the Pacific Coast Highway. :) But I entertained her and Becky on the long drive back by singing my rendition of "Lucy" songs.
Earlier that day, we took a trip to the Parmount Studios which used to be Desilu. That was so much fun. I got some grass out of Lucy Park, and we all got our pictures taken around various locations. Liz and Benny were with us that time. We watched a show on that tour, and when Lucy came on, Sherry and I clapped really loudly. We had to applaud LUCY! Then afterwards, we begged our tour guide, who will remain anonymous for protection, to let us go into the commissary where Lucy and Desi first met. We got to stand in that place!! It was another one of those hard to describe moments, standing in the very room that Lucy and Desi saw each other. We also got to go into the building that used to hold Lucy and Desi's offices. I did not want to go upstairs because that is where Desi asked for the divorce. Luckily we did not get to do that. Then we took pictures of the fish pond that Lucy put in while she was still working there.
The next couple of days we spent at the Loving Lucy Convention. That story will be posted later.

2:00 p.m.
We went to Universal Studios that day to see the Lucy Tribute. We spent the biggest part of the day in that place, for some reason none of us wanted to leave. We watched those videos in there over and over. I walked over to the Mame dress of Lucy's and sang a few songs in front of it. I thought I was singing to Lucy's Wildcat boots, but they were from one of her shows. Liz and I played trivia over and over just to hear Lucy make funny sounds. We all liked seeing Lucy's clothes and a few things from the sets of her shows. There were some personal items of Lucy's in there that would have made some really great souvenirs.
6:30 p.m.
Sherry drove us to Chatsworth to see the place where Lucy and Desi lived when they first got married. The anticipation was growing for me because I had never been there and had wanted to go there forever. Sherry made the trip a few months before so she knew exactly where to go. On the way there, I saw a cow in the middle of a field and I told them, "There's the Duchess of Devenshire."
I took a picture of a tree in the front yard because I knew that tree had to have been there when Lucy was there. We were not really sure if that was the right house, but we had fun there anyway. We knocked on the door of this one house and asked the lady about any information that she could tell us. She didn't know too much, but told us that we could go in to the backyard if we could get back there. There was a huge fenced in area that we discovered used to be the backyard because there was an outline of a swimming pool there and tons of bricks. Before I knew it, Sherry had jumped the fence and was prowling around. I had on sandals and I could not go up the fence. I took off my shoes, trying that, but that didn't work either. So I was so very determined to do this, I stuck my shoes through there and somehow made it over with Liz and Becky's help. Then I took off my shoes and went barefoot in the grass knowing that Lucy used to romp around the yard. Sherry and I were at the pool area and we found a few souvenirs. Then the neighbors were watching us, so we had to leave. Then Sherry had to drive me to Rite Aide, because once again I was scraped up, but it was worth it!
