Islamic Poems 2
HIS WORDS

-Unknown

In the Name of Allah begin every action
Obey, serve and worship Allah with devotion
Offer Salaah with humility and attention,
Read the Qur'an with understanding and comprehension.

Strive in Allah's way with Qur'anic inspiration
Let Allah's pleasure be our only aspiration
And success in the Hereafter,
Be our sole ambition.

Memorize Qur'anic quotations
Engage in Dhikr and Soul-Purification
Do Da'wah with wisdom,
Beautiful preaching and graceful persuasion.

There is no time now to relax
That we may Inshallah do in Paradise perhaps
Now be more concerned with earning Sawaab,
And maintain all norms of Hijaab.

In Religion there is no compulsion
At stake is your own Salvation
For the Truth stands out from error,
Make sure you do not regret later.

On the basis of color, wealth, or region
Let there be no distinction
In the Muslim Ummah let there be no division,
In the Qur'an will you find such injunctions.

Let us be One Strong United Brotherhood
Concerned about each others' welfare and good
Offering the needy and orphans food,
Over losses do not brood.

We follow the ways of beloved Prophet Muhammad
Sallallahu alaihi wasallam
Allah's Last and Final Messenger
The Most Sublime of all humans
The Most Exalted in Character.

We follow his Sunnah and Guidance
And do not cause on earth mischief or nuisance
Islam is a Religion of Peace
It's Attraction and Glory will never cease.

Do adopt the Islamic Way of Life
Be faithful to your husband or wife
In writing put all your contracts and agreements
Honor and keep all your promises and commitments.

Life after death is a certainty
Do not treat this life with laxity
Do not indulge in frivolous gaiety
And shun all obscenity and vulgarity.

Islam recommends virtues
Such as Honesty, Chastity and Charity
Do good deeds with sincerity
Almighty Willing you may attain eternal felicity.

On usury and interest there is prohibition
On trade there is blessing and divine sanction
Be honest and fair,
In every transaction.

Islam is here to reign supreme
However much the mushriks may scheme
This is neither utopia nor dream,
Righteous Muslims will emerge as the Victorious Team.

Allah's Oneness to all we proclaim
We seek neither wealth nor any fame
Allah's Pleasure is our only aim
Glorified be His Name,
May He save us from deeds of shame
And from hell's fire and flame.

Aameen! Ya arhamar raahimeen.

SINCERITY

-Anonymous

Learn to call on Allah,
In the dark,
While Riding on a bus,
Or sitting in a park

Learn to do it when,
Alone in a room,
Or staying up late,
Staring at the moon

And if someone boasts about,
What he did for Allah,
And asks you to tell him,
What you did for Allah

Just Say, "Why should I tell you"
If I did it for Allah?"

WHAT WILL THE DATE BE???

-Anonymous

What will the date be?
Praised be He,
who knows the future
Lord of The worlds,
Creator of every creature

Did you sit down and think
About the moment when
your eyes will cease to blink

yes, I am Talking to you
sit down and do
and do not pretend
That it won't Happen to you

What will the date be?
What will be the time?
And Most important...
am I the next on line?

Oh no you think...
not Me....
and even if it was... you say
it won't be today....

It will be At a time
so far away...

like a hundred years
or maybe even more
When Angel Izrael
will be knocking at my door

and the problem Is.
you know that you know....
That when death comes...
it will Come like a blow

I just can't believe
maybe can't conceive
that God knows the very second
when my soul will come out of my body
And the news will shock everybody

So am I ready for the test?
The Most important final test?
But how can I pass
when I knew all the While
that when I didn't prepare
for a test in school

I got a letter in
My mail
a lousy F
for Fail

Exactly what I was expecting
WHAT AM I EXPECTING??????!!!!

Don't take God for granted
Yes, He is Merciful
His Punishment is also
Painful

MY BELOVED

- Anonymous

There was a time in my youth,
When Islam was only a custom.
They said "say La IIaha IIIa Allah,..
And pray, you'll go to Heaven."

Ah, how simple, no struggle in this,
Just a word, and simple act.
Thereafter I'm absorbed in this world again,
With my 'assured' place in Paradise intact.

But this was not to be my fate
For ALLAH chose to guide my heart.
I learnt of a man who struggled so hard
When his mission was from the start.

Spoke gently, kindness he knew.
Never fearing to say what's right,
His conviction in ISLAM was true.

The touch of his hand was as soft as silk
To comfort a crying child.
To mend his clothes, or do the chores,
Never complaining, he always smiled.

A living he made with his bare hands,
The same that held his mighty sword.
Valour shone from the edge of his blade,

His smell was always of musk,
And cleanliness he kept at his best.
Stark contrast with the heroes of today,
Who stink of beer and sweat.

He held the hands of his companions.
Unashamed to play with many children.
So modest, so humble, a perfect example,
That strangers could not recognise him.

His eyes slept little for nights were precious,
His prayers he treasured much greater.
To pray Tahajjud in the depths of night,
Seeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator.

He broke his tooth for me at Uhud,
And bled for me at Ta'if.
He cried for me, tears of concern,
Just so I could have this belief.

His enemies admired his teachings,
Uniting every religion, every clan.
Till ISLAM came to every corner of the world,
O, but indeed he was only a man.

To own a house, or build his wealth
Was not his main priority.
To establish ISLAM was more essential,
To bring us under a Higher Authority.

Don't you want him to plea for your case,
When before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand?
Don't you wish to be around his fountain,
A burning desire to drink from his hand?

So I love him more than all creation,
My Leader, my Humble Prophet.
Muhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind,
And to me, he is ... MY BELOVED !

THE QUR'AN

A Book that is full of answers,
A Book that makes you cry.
A Book that makes you notice,
How much harder you can try.
A Book that makes you realize,
What true love really is...
A Book that gives you direction,
for all of life’s tough biz.
A Book that gives you hope,
that Someone somewhere’s watching over you.
A Book that helps you out,
Through all the times your blue.
A Book that was revealed to our beloved Prophet(SAWS),
over a period of 23 years
Once you put faith into this Book,
You can handle worldly fears.
A gift sent down from Heaven,
A treasure from above,
Written proof that shows us
How blessed we are with Allah (SWT’s) love!

COMPLAINT OF THE MOSQUE

I want to know
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SO LONG?

I want to know
WHY YOU LEFT ME ALONE FOR SO LONG?

I want to know
WHAT HAS ATTRACTED YOU MORE THAN I?

Oh! Dear I want to know
WHY YOU COME TO ME ON FRIDAY'S ONLY?

I want to know
WHY YOU CAME UNTO ME IN RAMADAN ONLY?

I want to know
WHY YOU FILL ME UP ON EID DAY ONLY?

Oh! Please do tell me
For I really want to know
DO YOU STILL REMEMBER THAT
FOR YOUR MARRIAGE YOU CAME TO ME?

I want to know that
If you still remember that
The last place you will visit before
You go to your grave is me

Now Eid has come
You have all gone
And I still want to know
WHY YOU HAVE LEFT ME ALONE FOR SO LONG?
I want to know

SOMETHING SO RIGHT

One day as I sat in bed
I felt something land atop my head
On my ceiling there was a leak
Through this hole I took a peek
I looked around and saw the sky
I looked more and saw the 7 heavens up high
As I stared in admiration
I saw angels in prostration
Praying to one god above
Who created everything , even love
The heaven was beautiful, with gardens and things
Happy angels flew about on their wings
But looking next to the heavens, I made a frown
This is where we all go down
This is where a burning fire lay
For all those who go astray
A chill went down my bones
Life seemed like sticks and stones
Now I knew what I had to do
I realized life was split in two
One part here, and a part up there too
To be happy there you had to work here
And hell did I truly fear
A worked hard day and night
And I made everything right
As I was being laid to rest
I knew that this part of life was the best
I followed the orders and the rules
I thought of seconds as jewels
My time had run out
I didn't scream and pout
Because this is when I knew inside
For me, heavens gates were opened wide.

BOYS AND GIRLS...

by Asma Husain

Boys and girls it's time to pray
Adhan is called five times a day

Stop our playing or leave your sleep,
Ignore the noises in the street.

Pack up your toys and leave your games,
Remember Allah, Most Glorious of names.

Come in a hurry, come clean and smart,
Speak to your Maker and open your heart.

Praise and thank Him, All day long
And say you're sorry, if you've done wrong.

He'll forgive you, and give you the power
To think and do good, each second and hour.

IT IS THE FINAL DAY

by Iman Mashaal

The footsteps walk away,
it is the Final Day,
now I'm here all alone,
my earthly life is gone.

Buried down so deep,
no comfort and no sleep,
screaming out of fear,
but no mortal can hear,

It's too late to reform,
I said tomorrow morn,
but the morning never came,
my excuses were so lame,

it will not help to weep,
no blessings here to reap,
no chance for good deeds to gain,
I'm lying here in vain,

All the pomp and all the fame,
my actions were insane,
don't call out my name,
I'm embarrassed, I'm in shame,

But worse than all of that,
I'm constricted on this mat,
I can not even breathe,
Oh how deeply I grieve,

Not a person to console me,
I was free to be,
I chose the dubious path,
I chose the desolate wrath,

My ribs are crushed together,
my body and soul have severed,
there is no solace ahead,
nothing, but that I dread,

From Heaven the angels descend,
what harm do they intend?
their faces black as death,
carrying strips of cloth,

Coming to snatch my miserable Soul,
and yank it out with just one pull,
by every angel it will be cursed,
in the Heaven and in the Earth,

Wrapped in that cloth so coarse,
nothing could be any worse,

from it emits the foulest stench,
to which I can make no comment,

They ask whose ugly soul is this,
none other but mine 'tis,
for my soul Heaven is denied,
in guilt and remorse my soul has cried,

But no, I chose my own dark way,
and never did I imagine this day,
I thought it wouldn't approach so fast,
I thought I would adjust my past,

My soul has now returned to me,
and now I mourn eternally,
I fear that wretched, wicked day,
that is not very far away,

Two angels appear,
interrogation is near,
Sit up, " Who is your Lord?",
I cannot utter a single word,

"What is your religion?", they ask,
"I only heard people mention it", I gasp,
"I did not know, I did not read" "LIAR"
Spread out for him a place to see the fire,

And struck by the final blow,
to dust I turn, I shriek "Oh No!"
Lord please do not establish the Hour,
for I know by fire I will be devoured,

Don't let this be your poor, poor soul,
your ambition to seek your Lord is your goal,
keep in mind that your end is near,
and let it be Allah that you fear.

FOOLISH PEOPLE

by Apzal Hosein

"Come and Follow me."
Said the fool to the crowd,
And they did.
So sad to see,
So easily people are misguided.

So easy are they tempted,
With false promises of men.
Their life too is false,
Contented in their illusion.
Will they ever see?

Their hearts are made of stone
And they feel nothing.
No regrets, no pain, no peace -
Just a life
Full of emptiness.

People wake up and see!
Life is not an illusion.
On the Day of Judgement,
The punishment is real
And the reward everlasting.

ISLAM IS HERE

by Jawad Ahmed

Islam is peace, Islam is ease,
Islam's not danger or disease.
Islam is love and prosperity.
Islam's not hatred or adversity.

Islam is salvation through repentence.
Islam has love for all in abundance.
Islam means no harm or affliction.
Islam implores you with affection.

Islam is neither maze nor craze.
Islam is giving Allah all praise.
Islam is acing through the race.
Islam will be on everyone's face.

Islam is worshipping only the Creator.
Islam's not mere numbers on a calculator.
Islam gives you power when you surrender.
Islam's not a terrorist or for a pretender.

Islam is patience and perseverance.
Islam eases your vengeance through tolerance.
Islam is life for all eternity.
Islam gives you respect, moreover dignity.

Islam is winning hearts through honesty
Islam is giving openly in charity
Islam makes you wholesome and trustworthy
Islam is in wealth as well as in poverty.

Islam is your shield against all evil.
Islam is for your soul's retrieval.
Islam not fundamentalism or fanaticism.
Islam's not nationalism or racism.

Wake up, people, Islam is here.
Islam is here, so have no fear.

ALLAH KNOWS BEST

-Anonymous

Allah knows what's best for us
So why should we complain
We always want the sunshine
But He knows there must be rain
We always want the laughter
And the merriment of cheer
But our hearts will lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear.

Allah tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow
He tests us not to punish us
But to help us meet tomorrow
For growing trees are strengthened
If they withstand the storm
And the sharp cut of the chisel
Gave the marble grace and form

Allah tests us often
And for every pain He gives to us
Provided we're patient
Is followed by rich gain
So whenever we are down
And whenever we feel that everything is
going wrong
It is just Allah's way
To make our spirit strong.

THE TORCH OF ISLAM

by Sabeel Ahmed

Allah speaks: "In this dark world
I have equipped every Muslim with a Torch (Islam),
Batteries (Qur'an); and its Switch (Iman);"

"All I wish of you is: Turn on the lights,
by executing My commands, revealed in the Qur'an;
Enjoin what is good and forbid what is wrong,
And make your life follow the footsteps
of the Last Prophet (pbuh)of Islam;"

"And if you suffice all these
your prize will be nothing less than Paradise."

"Grieve not for the Cessation of this Light
after you are gone,
for I will endow you with ample reserve power (children);

"Polish them well, so they could reflect,
after the Dusk of your Span,
The Light you have passed them on,
Like a oon channeling the Rays of the Sun,
after the Sundown."

"And Charge (train) them well,
so they get used to Lighting,
for decades to come The Torch of Islam."

THE MAN IN THE MIRROR

-Unknown

If you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what THAT man has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or wife
Who judgement upon you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear upto the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass!

ALLAH

by Tasneem Motala

Some say he is the moon
Some say he is the sun
But we as Muslims believe he is one.
He teaches us to love and not to hate.
He is Allah The Most High, The Most Great.

FEAR OF ALLAH

by Hiba Chohan

I fear Allah
When I do anything wrong
I fear Allah When I disobey my mom
I fear Allah
When I lie
I fear Allah
When people die
I fear Allah
So I can do All right
Do you fear Allah?

THE FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM

by Ayla Munawar

There are five Pillars of Islam,
Do them, they have many charms.
The first is Shahadah,
"There is no God but Allah,
Muhammad is his Messenger."
Repeat it many times,
And you will do fine.
The second is Prayer,
You must do it from Fajr to Isha,
If you want to get to heaven.
The third is giving charity to the poor,
Don't just spend your money at the toy store.
The fourth is fasting,
Find something to do that will keep
Ramadan lasting.
The last is Hajj
Go to Mecca and make a Hajj
If you should,
It will do you very good.
Those were the five pillars of Islam,
Do them, they have many charms.

IMAGINE

-Unknown

Imagine yourself after you pass away
Imagine your grave through night and through day
Wishing that you did not do as they say
Wishing that you had got up and had prayed.

Imagine, my friends, the day that you died
Imagine all of the tears that they cried
Remember how it felt when your body was tied
Remember how it felt in the grave which you lied.

Imagine the day you'll be called to account
Imagine the sum to which your life will ammount
Think for a moment of the deeds which you mount
Think for a moment how much they will count.

What will they say of you when you are dead?
What will they say, what will be said?
Will they speak of all the poor who you fed?
Will they remember all the Qur`an that you read?

Think not of them, but of Allah, Lord of mankind and jinn
Think of Allah when tempted to sin
Think of the paradise which you will dwell in
Don't wait till later to think what might have been.

FASTING

We all must fast in Ramadan,
Which is one of the five Arkan,
It is a blessed month you know,
We fast for Allah, not for show,

It's designed to make us think,
As we refrain from food and drink,
We feel the hunger and the pain,
And much there is for us to gain,
From dawn till dusk we fast,
Hoping that our Sawm can last,
While we try to do much good,
Building Taqwa like we should.

Special prayers we say at night,
And turn to Allah in our plight,
To forgive and guide us as we try,
While ourselves we purify.

And remember it was in Ramadan,
When Allah revealed the Holy Qur'an,
And so began the Prophet's call,
A guide and mercy to us all.

And the night of Qadr is unique,
Its blessings all believers seek,
Then will follow the day of 'Eid,
A truly festive day indeed.

Fasting teaches discipline too,
And self-control for me and you,
As year by year we train to be,
Better Muslims, by Allah's decree.

KOSOVA

by Sabahat Syed

We have Muslim Brothers and Sisters dying there.
Being forced out of their homes to who knows where.
Forced to the mountains where it is freezing cold.
Many can't make it - many too old.
Why can't we feel their suffering and pain?
What have we done to reduce their strain?
This can happen to us one day too.
There is something that we have to do!
Try putting yourself in their place.
Think of all the hardships that you'll have to face.
Imagine your family being taken away from you.
How would you feel, what would you do?
Think of yourself being crammed into trains and taken away.
Having nothing to sleep on but a bundle of hay.
You'll want someone to do something for you.
There is something that we have to do!
Many are lucky to receive at least one meal.
How about the orphans, how would they feel?
What about those who don't know where their families are?
What about those who were turned back after coming so far?
Think of all the people who are sick.
How I would love to give Milosevic a kick!
Give a relief group some of your money.
I'm serious and this is not funny.
Allah will ask you about what you had done.
Did you do something or were you too busy having fun?
The Muslim Umma is like one body so you should feel it too.
There is something that we have to do!
Pleasing Allah should be on top of our list.
So this opportunity shouldn't be missed!

MY SISTERS

by Abdul Malik Mujahid Ali

No longer shackled by the oppression
of miniskirts and see-thru shirts,
my sisters stand proud.
Covered by cloth and more so by conviction
submission to Allah, they stand apart from the crowd.
The taunts, the jeers, the stares, the leers
Never fazing or dissuading them from following the deen.
Real women they be, the epitome of femininity
strong, secure, complete human beings.
Not slaves to the world of fashion
which is always askin'
for women to dress in as less as they can.
Their hijab is for the sake of Allah
in imaan and taqwa
they refuse to be objectified by man.
Such are my sisters in Islam.

DEATH IS EVERYWHERE

by Ahsen Sulaiman

WITH SIXTY SECONDS TO SPARE
REFLECT-DEATH IS THERE
MAN THINKS DEATH IS RARE
BUT IT IS EVERYWHERE
NONE WILL IT SPARE
NEITHER WILL IT CARE
BLACK BROWN OR FAIR
DEATH IS EVERYWHERE
MAN THINKS IT IS NOT FAIR
FOR DEATH TO BE EVERYWHERE
OH! WHY THIS DESPAIR
IF HE COULD ONLY PREPARE.

I TURN TO THE QUR'AN

by MSA at UCLA

I turn to the Qur'an,
but it is the Qur'an that turns me,
It opens my heart and uncovers
The truth within.
The Qur'an is my light,
Brightening my way to the last day.

I turn to the Qur'an,
It has more than I can ask for,
If only I could fully use it.

Within its cover, one uncovers a sea of truth-
The power it holds! But power
Is in the eye of the beholder,

Unseen by those whose hearts are covered.
