The Louisville Kentucky Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

During the final phase of construction a group of young women from the area helped the project by assembling the chandeliers in the Sealing rooms. As they worked they began to sing hymns. The Louisville Temple is small enough that the sound of their singing could probably have been heard throughout the temple. Several of the construction workers, most of whom were not members of the Church, heard the young women sing and were impressed with the spirituality and beauty of their music.

The temple was announced on 17 March 1999.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 29 May 1999.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 19 March 2000.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,700 square foot temple.
The spire is about 78 feet tall.
The Louisville Temple serves stakes in Kentucky.
