The Spokane Washington Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

On the morning that the Spokane Temple was dedicated, the sky was cloudy and threatening rain. As President Hinckley moved from the temple to where the cornerstone was about to be sealed into place the Choir sang the "Morning Breaks" and, true to the words of the song, the sun broke through the clouds, and the temperature rose. The rest of the day was warm and pleasant. This simple but poignant event symbolizes what a temple brings to a comunity. A new temple is like a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day that warms the heart and inspires the soul.

The temple was announced on 29 August 1998.
Ground was broken and construction begun in October 1998.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 21-23 August 1999.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,700 square foot temple.
The spire is about 78 feet tall.
The Spokane Temple serves stakes in eastern Washington and parts of northern Idaho and western Montana.
