Thorn's Court:
Letters of Correspondence
by Anton Thorn
Below are links to letters I have written in past correspondence with both Christians and non-Christians pertaining to certain topics of atheological interest. Where possible, I include their responses.
Individual Correspondence with Christians:
Presuppositionalist Circularities: Read my response to Cornelius Van Til's open admission of his advocacy of fallacious reasoning as a means of defending Christianity.
Grease Remover: Watch an aspiring presuppositionalist slip on a floor he should not have waxed so hard. Some real entertainment value in this one!
Religion Wears a Bloody Glove: This is a letter which addresses a very important issue often intentionally misunderstood and misrepresented by religionists today. That issue is the claim that atheism leads to life-annihilating totalitarian regimes as exemplified in infamous 20th century dictatorships.
What the Buck? Read my response to a Christian who took exception to my claim that I was in fact a practicing Christian at one point in my life.
An Aborted Rise to Challenge: This is the record of my correspondence with a Christian who boasted that he could answer all the questions in my Christian Questionnaire. So, where are his answers?
How to Make Striped and Spotted Offspring? This letter focuses on the problem of Genesis chapter 30, in which we read that the color patterns of the hides of livestock could be manipulated by controlling the visual environment in which the livestock feed and water themselves. Now this is Christian science!
A Lesson on the Issue of Metaphysical Primacy This letter was written in response to a Christian who wanted some clarification on a statement I made in my essay The Byron-Choi Dilemma. While a bit technical in nature, I've tried to make my points clear and concise.
A Relationship with Jesus? A young Christian visited my site and had some questions about my experience as a Christian believer. Take a look at some of my answers to her questions.
Observations Do Christian apologists automatically have an upper hand over the non-believer? Not if he remains loyal to reason and does not allow reason to be compromised by unnecessary dichotomies and stolen concepts.
Letter to an Evangelist A comprehensive response to a tract-like letter forwarded to me by a visitor to my website. Numerous issues are covered in this piece, including the illicit desire for infallibility, the nature of emotions, the virtue of pride versus the lust for the unearned, and the soul-body dichotomy. Includes a contents list with internal links.
Correspondence Series:
Correspondence Series with Christians: Occasionally, a Christian surfing the net (a contradiction in terms and action) attempts to take me on in an e-mail debate. I'm more than welcome to return the favor in some ripe cases.
Kicking Against the Pricks: This section, which was added on March 19, 2000, documents my correspondence with a Catholic who took exception with the content of my website and my approach to philosophy. Read all 11 articles which make up my end of this correspondence.
Correspondence with Non-Christians:
Letters to a Young Atheologist: Read some of the letters I've written to young Mr. Kappus, himself an aspiring atheologist. Learn how to deal with some of the philosophical problems which an individual may encounter while merely intending to keep the stability of his own mind intact from the irrational attack of theistic apologists.
