With the continuous building, adding of concrete, hotter summers and longer school year our problem grows progressively worse each year.
Up until the last few years, school did not start until September, usually after Labor Day.
Now, due to the added school days mandated by the State of Texas
most of us go back to school in the second week of August, which of course is the hottest month of the year.
It seems we go back to school earlier and earlier every year due to these state mandates but is given to the transportation of the students in the heat.
Many districts are also taking more holidays during the cooler months of the year. This of course, causes us to extend the school year into the hotter months.
