Alexandria - the Graeco-Roman museum

Because it lay on the Mediterranean, the Greeks and Romans settled more intensively in Alexandria than perhaps elsewhere in Egypt.  This is the courtyard of the Graeco-Roman museum where many Greek and Roman relics are housed.

Court-yard of the Graeco-Roman museum

We saw statues and pottery and household tools and paintings and even clothes.  Much of the Greek and Roman archaeological heritages is sadly being destroyed by city development these days.  There are many tombs and Byzantine Christian remains.
