Falcon

A symbol for many gods, but chiefly of Horus the king, and of divine kingship in general.

Falcons with protecting, outstretched wings were often painted on the ceilings of tombs and over temple doorways.  This beautifully bejeweled falcon clutches ankhs and shen rings in its claws.  Other falcon gods included Month, god of war, Re, the sun god and Sokar, god of mortuaries.
