Lotus
The lotus lily is an exquisite flower that grows on the Nile. It opens each morning towards the light and so became associated with the sun god Re, and symbolized re-birth.
You can see paintings and carvings of lotus flowers everywhere, often linked with the papyrus reed which also grows on the Nile.
