Hovenweep is located on the Utah and Colorado border. This National Monument is off the beaten path. It is on a dirt road, and the quality of the road depends on the weather. It is usually in good repair, but inquire locally if you don't have a four wheel drive. There is a small, primitive campground at Hovenweep. It is usually quiet, and deserted. Be sure to bring your own water, as Hovenweep does not have water available.
Please be careful not to disturb anything while you are exploring Hovenweep. These ruins are not stabelized, they have not had any reconstruction, they are as you find them. This is one of the few places where you can go to see Anasazi Ruins, without a guide, and without modern man putting a bit of mortar here, a bit of mortar there.... Please give Hovenweep the respect and care it deserves. Remember, these ruins have been here for a thousand years, lets gain comfort from the thought that they will remain here for the next thousand years!
Please visit these sites for more info on Hovenweep. Ron's Ruins Pages has some really great info and some AWESOME! pics of hovenweep and other Anasazi ruins in the Four Corners Region, give him a visit!
