Spring Gardening Page
Spring is here and warm weather is just around the corner.
Let's get out from behind our computers and plant something!!
Gardening Tips
Plant annuals when all danger of frost has passed.
A major reason for poor seed germination is planting the seed too deep.
Weed the garden regularly, weeds 2-3 inches high are easy to remove.
Marigolds planted as a border around your vegetable garden keep insects away and look great too!
Water your garden early in the morning, this reduces the risk of water loss due to evaporation.
When buying seedlings bigger isn't always better. Small green bushy plants are better.
Add compost and a slow release fertilizer every time you add a plant to your garden.
Remove dead blossoms from your plants to encourage new blossoms.
Prune Azaleas as soon as they finish blooming in the spring, to prevent cutting off next years blooms.
After all danger of frost has past, put out herbs. Then enjoy in the kitchen!
Put out small bowls of beer to kill slugs in the garden.
Dig up and divide Daylilies. This can be done almost anytime. If I can't kill Daylilies neither can you.
Use strips of old panty hose to tie up tomatoes and tall flowers.
Transplant your Easter Lilies to the garden, they will love you for it.
Set out summer annuals when all danger of frost has past.
Spring is a good time to trim up overgrown shrubs and cut away winter damage.
Gardening is like being near children. It's good for the soul!!
Check back often during the Spring and Summer for more gardening tips. And hopefully some pictures of my garden when my daylilies really get to going in June.
