SOUTHERN BELLES
BORN AND BRED
IN THE SOUTH
The Midi you are listening to is Masquerade
Being a Southern Belle isn't aquired, it isn't learned, it can't be bought!
A Southern Belle is always born, it's something in her DNA. She's guided along in the fine art of Southern ways by her mother, grandmother and other female relatives. Being a Belle is an intergal part of every Southern woman, right from birth.
Southern Belles live by a certain code of ethics that are so foreign to the rest of the country, that it's almost like stepping into another place and time.
Things I was born knowing. And my mother refined in me.
Remember who your people are. Linage means a lot in the South. You may have a horse thief or two on the family magnolia tree, but for goodness sakes dont tell!
Never, never wear white shoes before Easter or after Labor day.
Never wear velvet after Valentines day.
A Southern Belle never appears ruffled or stressed. She may be boiling inside but you'd never know it to look at her.
A Belle always calls her father "Daddy" no matter how old she is.
No matter how informal the meal, ie... a picnic, a Belle always presents it fancy. Linen napkins and silver trays go just as well with hot dogs as they do with Beef Wellington.
A Belle never reveals her age. Her timeless inner beauty speaks for it's self.
Jewelry is never worn before 4pm.
A Southern lady never shows even a hint of bosom before evening.
Slacks are never worn in public. Nor is gum chewed. And no Belle would ever dream of being seen with a lit cigarette in public!
Most Belles are born and live in the South. But, of course we are well traveled and alas some Belles must live outside the South. Just remember being Southern is in the blood not in the location.
Southern Belles are wrecking balls all dressed up in pink cotton candy.
