Official Epilogue

All in all, the trip was a great success. Even though 9 people were the most at the booth at one time, and the band didn't make it, and the papers reported the party never started, it was better than I had imagined. I really didn't think anyone would show up to tell you the truth!

My goal was to stargaze, promote Coffee and a Sandwich by leaving the cards I had made and hand out coffee and sandwiches to any who were present. All those things happened. And we partied out there, so what do the newspapers know? I think they expected a concert with a hundred people or something like that.

We got to know Rick Karr, who really enjoyed the stargazing, and we really enjoyed listening to Ricks views on things like healthcare, the prison system, drug re-habilitation and raising kids in America today. Dino videotaped a good chunk of his views, and someday I hope to have the entire dialogue on this page somewhere.

Rick is a writer, who had a calling from God to go to the booth for however long, so he could get inspired to write his book, dealing with healthcare, and drug-rehabilitation. His background is in healthcare. A lot of people view him as an odd fellow, but when you're dealing with new cutting edge ideas, you're gonna do some odd things!

God Bless you Rick!

We also got to meet Charlie, the closest neighbor to the booth. Charlie drove out there specifically to make sure Rick was OK and had plenty of water. Unfortunately my film had run out by this time. He was an old desert dog, thats for sure. His house has no electricity, he and his wife use a generator, and on the hotter nights, they prefer to sleep outdoors in the bed of their truck. Charlie said anytime we come back, bang on his door and he would be more than glad to give us a tour of the old cinder mines and some caverns that very few people know about in the area. Charlie remembers when the phone there had a crank and an operator asked you who you wanted to talk to. Ah.......... the good ole days!

We plan to go out there again, hopefully in October/November sometime, so check on my homepage for details, and I'll have my telescope of course.

Now I can say, "I have been to the Booth........."
