Public and representational roles. The diplomatic and consular representatives are charged with building bridges of communication between the Principality and the host country. They practice the art of public diplomacy, as they explain to foreign audiences both the specificity of the Hutt River Province Principality and the content of Hutt River's foreign policy. The diplomatic or consular representatives may represent the Hutt River Province Principality at local official functions, ceremonies, and meetings. They may maintain, whenever possible, cordial relations with officials and consular officers of other nations. Distribution of the MFA Statements. The proper distribution of the MFA Statements is among the most important duties a Hutt River diplomat or consul has. MFA Statements may be translated into the native language of the host country. Conservation of official documents. Official documents issued by the Government of the Hutt River Province Principality are carefully kept by all diplomatic or consular representatives. The Official Bulletin of the Hutt River Province Principality is accessible to all Hutt River citizens. Collection of information. The diplomatic or consular representatives collect information and write regularly scheduled and special reports analyzing and interpreting developments of interest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the Government of the Hutt River Province Principality. Handling of applications for naturalization and passports. Prior to the acceptance of an application, a Hutt River diplomatic or consular representative interviews the applicant to determine his/her eligibility for the naturalization requested, and explain any legal and documentary requirements. Diplomatic or consular representatives review applications for passports and passport renewals. They verify the information presented and then forward the file to the local Hutt River Head of Mission for further transmission to the Cabinet. Promotion of HRPP items. Whenever possible, official items issued by or on the behalf of the Government of the Hutt River Province Principality (stamps, notes, etc.) are promoted by all diplomatic or consular representatives and particularly by the Commercial Attachés. Organization of charitable functions. Once a significant community of Hutt River citizens is established in a specific area, Hutt River diplomats and consuls may facilitate - in coordination with the local RHRDF officers if any - the organization of charitable functions. This charitable work can be important in presenting a fuller picture of the values, beliefs, and principles held by the Hutt River Province Principality which influence our foreign policy decisions.
