The purpose of this homepage is primarily to provide information on employment discrimination at eatons, a Canadian company that earned a horrible labour relations and human rights record. The site continues to provide information from a human rights perspective about eatons. However, some of the links will be deactivated as the site is restructured to reflect the changing status of eatons as a tarnished star in the Canada of the twenty-first century. In 1999, eatons declared bankruptcy. On or around December 29, 1999, Sears Canada Inc. has bought some of eatons stores, eatons Department Store name, its trademark, intellectual property, and more. eatons has left many unresolved conflicts of employment and racial discrimination. Sears has inherited this Canadian retail company that is associated with unresolved racism that were substantiated during investigations by the Ontario Human Rights Commission. The new owner of the eatons, Sears Canada Inc. has also had its share of employment discrimination complaints, some of which have resulted in landmark human rights decisions that protect the public interest. On November 25, 2000, sears relaunched 7 eatons stores across Canada. As of February 2002, Sears announced that it will be converting the seven (7) eatons stores into Sears and Sears Select Stores. This confirms what is already widespead wisdom, that eatons horrible human rights and labour relations record has contributed to its inability to survive. A Luta Continua! The Struggle Continues...
