The dynasty of Bobov was founded by HaRav Shlomo Halberstam, a grandson of the Holy Rebbe of Tzanz, Rabbi Chaim Halberstam. He was also a great grandson from The Rebbe of Ropshitz, Rabbi Naftuli Tzvi Horowitz. When he died his only son Rabbi Ben Zion took over. When World War Two came, the Bobover Rov and one of his sons, Moshe Aharon, were killed. Another son, Chaim Shia, died in Siberia. His teachings (with some of his father's) appear in the sefer Kedushas Tzion. After the war, his oldest son, Rabbi Shlomo, went about the work of rebuilding Bobov with the help of his oldest son, Rabbi Naftuli Tzvi (named after his Holy Grandfather, the Ropshitzer Rov).
For over 50 years Rabbi Shlomo with his son worked together to rebuild Bobov until Rosh Chodesh Av 5760, when Rabbi Shlomo died. His son Rabbi Naftuli Tzvi took over, and with the aid of his two sons-in-law, led Bobov until his death 12 Adar II, 5765.
