I am trying to find the grave of my Greatgreatgrandfather Henry Jackson Sorrells,Sorrels,Sarrells. I was told he was wounded at Malvern Hill, Va. and died July 1, 1862. He was with the 25th North Carolina Infantry, Company F. His rank was Private. He was born in Haywood County, North Carolina and left a widow Adrah Cathey Sorrells and two children, Robert Henry and Alice. His wife was buried here in Haywood County as were his children. I have found no evidence of any pension or a request for one. My grandmother said he was buried in Richmond Va.

I am trying to find the final burial place of my
great grandfather
Thomas Calhoun Shaw from Coosa county Alabama. He was a member of Ellis
Logans mounted patrol for home defense , in the summer of 1864 . By late
summer of that same year this company was called up and was sent south
from Coosa county. He never came home. My gg grandmother raised 6
children.
Through the Alabama archives I can fine his enlisted muster sheet
,on file in Coosa co. and find where he was enlisted as a private,
Thos.C. Shaw , 47 years old, on the 7th day of May, and on July 25th
,1864 they were called into regular service . I do not know if they were
attached to a Regiment or was put into some other Unit.
I am presently looking at the Selma battle and cemetery and
researching Fort Blakely, Spanish Fort , and even Ship Island , but so
far am finding nothing of significance. Family lore has him in the
Mobile area in the final battles of the war , I do not if this is true.
If you can help it would be appreciated.
Respectfully submited

I am looking for the grave of a
Levi Spaid, D Co, 33rd VA Infantry. He died of pneumonia at Guinea Station,
VA , 1 April 1862. I do not have any idea where they would have buried him.
No rank is given, but I believe he was enlisted, so his family probably
would not have shipped his body home to Hampshire County, WV. My interest
in him is that he was related to Isaac Brill who owned the house I now own
in Capon Springs WV. I am trying to find out all I can on the many
relatives of Isaac who fought for the CSA. One nephew, Morgan Brill, (33rd
VA Inf) was killed at Chancellorsville, 3 may 1863, with a reference to
Darksville (VA/WV?). Any ideas on his gravesite?
Thanks for your time.

I have been looking for 10 years now for my Great-Great Grandfather, Thaddeus
Washington Forloines (Spelled "Forlines, Furlines, etc" at times.)
He was part of the 41st VA Inf, Co B. He died on May 1, 1911 in Halifax
County, Virginia at the home of his son, Thaddeus Napoleon Forloines.
He was married to Eliza Ann (Taylor) Forloines. She died on August 2, 1914
in Fluvanna County, VA at the home of her daughter, O.P. Gilbert.
I have never found either grave. Since there are no death records in VA for
1911, I can't find where he is buried. I believe the family was living in
News Ferry, VA, just outside of South Boston, VA when Thaddeus died.
Is there anyway you can help me find him?
Jeffrey L. Forloines

Hello,
I certainly appreciate your response to my query concerning burial sites for Chickamauga dead. The cemetery listing was helpful as I discovered several Monroe County, Alabama Confederates' burial sites and have added the names & places to the Camp 1610, Sons of Confederate Veterans index which we share with the local historical society and public library. Buried in Polar Bridge Cemetery, Section 32, Township 6 N. Range 6 East of Monroe County, Ala. are Edward A. Stacey, Thomas S. Stacey, & John Monroe Stacey, all served w/ Co. F. 36th Ala. Inf. Clayton's Bge. Stewart's Division, Army of Tenn. Two other brothers. John Adville & Harrison Stacey, also served with the 36th. I am seeking their burial sites. Thank you once again.

William, First of all let me say thank you for getting back to me. I am looking for a Tilman K. Reeves that may be buried here. Any help would be greatly appreciated See my problem is, I don't know that much about him, his death and where he is buried is a mystery, so there- fore I am searching every avenue that I can, hoping that someday I will find him. I will tell you what I know and maybe you can help me.
Tilman K. Reeves was my g-g-g-g grandfather, I know that he enlisted February 22 1862 into Co. E 8th Ga Regiment. I have his military record which doesn't consist of much. It tells of him being in the hospital many times and he was in Virginia each time. It says that he died some time in January of 1864. It doesn't give an exact date, or it doesn't say if he died of an illness, a wound , or in battle. I can't stand not knowing what happened to him. I may not ever find his grave, that is even if he is buried in a marked grave, but I am sure going to try. He was in the hospital in Richmond, Farmville, and Williamsburg Virginia. His record shows that he was returned to duty on June 5th, from C.S.A. General Hospital Farmville Virginia, and that he was last paid on August 31 1863, and he died sometime in January of 1864.
I just figured that he might be buried some- where in Virginia, but that may not be the case. This not knowing anything is driving me insane. I would at least like to know something. I know I didn't give you much to go on, but that is all I have. Do you think that you can help me in any way? Anything that you can do, or any suggestions that you may have for me, would be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you soon, and many many thanks to you.
Thanks

Confederate Solider Resting Place in NC
Hi - My ggGrandfather Samuel J. Pollard was a solider along with his brothers and father Etheldred Pollard in the war. Samuel was in the CoD 50th Regiment NC Infantry. Up until recently we didnt' know where he was buried. On June 4th my Aunt and I found him at the Johnson Cemetary # 209 in Ingrams Township (Four Oaks, NC) along with his wife ( It's and old graveyard that is half grown up now up in the edge of some woods in a field). He does not have a Civil War headstone and we are working on that. I just wanted to let you know we have found him and maybe you could add him to your list. Here is his info on his tombstone: Samuel J. Pollard Born: Sept 22, 1831 Died: March 17, 1913 Also my ggUncle was in the war and has a stone. His name is Walter R. Moore. He is buried on the family land in his immediate family cemetary. It is located on Old School Rd in Four Oaks, NC. Here is his info: Walter R. Moore Co.D 50th NC Regiment Born: About 1838 (can't read the date on the stone) Died:(can't read that either - will go out there soon and get the dates and resend to you) A few of Walter's Brother's served too but we can't find them yet one my ggGrandfather Haywood Moore- the other Levi Moore their brother. We think they are buried on the original family land but there are no markers just indentions where the body's are. Also another family member we can't seem to find is my gggGrandfather Etheldred "Dred" Pollard. He was in the Co.D. 5th Regiment NC Infantry and said to be the oldest solider inlisted at 73. I have copies of his confederate papers. One says he died in July the other August 1862. No one knows if he was sent back to NC from VA or if they buried him up in VA.
Thanks for your time! Take Care and God Bless Christie Moore

I am trying to locate the graves of two ancestors. I have been told by several people that they are probably buried at Hollywood Cemetery. Their names are William T. or P. Edenfield and Joshua Nunn. William was with the 48th Ga. Co. H and died in a Richmond Va hospital on 2-29-1864 Joshua was with the same company and supposedly died in a Richmond Hospital. There are some conflicting dates though. I have one day that says he died in Richmond on 3-7-1862 and another bit of information that says he was wounded ag Gaines Mills on 6-27-1862. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. I have 29 (so far) confederates in my family and I am trying to get as many graves marked with iron crosses as I can. So far I am not having luck locating many graves. So far I have only located the exact location of one. It will be marked with an iron cross service in August. Thanks, Jan Stewart
