The following manuscript images are hosted at other sites. While these are all worthy sites, most of them host only one or two images and do not have the study of illuminated manuscripts as their main focus. This gallery exists to allow you to convienently view such images without having to sift through 87 pages of search-engine results, read 20k of text on the wonderful philanthropy of some rich dead guy, or chase through 15 links before finding the image you are looking for.

Please note:
This site is slowly moving. When I first started in 1996-7, there was a place for a gallery containing images from unrelated sources, but as the number of museums and libraries online continues to increase, that need is not so great.

On Illuminated Manuscripts is s-l-o-w-l-y moving here. Currently, I envision gallery two as the host of researched pieces and short articles containing the wording and the materials used on a given work. Over the past few years, I have been working on modern illuminated manuscripts, and some of that will probably take over this gallery, as well.
