01. Video, as many people say, is going to be our substitute.
02. As far as technical aspects are concerned, the VCR is very similar to the tape-recorder.
03. As far as teaching techniques go, the VCR is very similar to the T.R..
04. Students are not supposed to participate a lot, video is a passive activity.
05. We should pre-teach all the vocabulary before the passage is presented.
06. The teacher is in a controlling role because he decides what is to be heard or seen.
07. Warm-ups (get into the mood, setting the scene) are not necessary: Context is obviously there.
08. Video, has entertainment as the main purpose in E.L.T..
09. The right proportion should be two or three minutes of recorded material to 15 to 20 minutes of class work.
10. We have to use video as frequently as possible, preferably once a week (regular E.L.T. series).
11. We have to try to avoid the image of video as entertainment.
