Hello
My name is Bobby Ray Bearden. I'm a sometimes writer, using the name B. R.Bearden. My main genres are science fiction, fantasy, horror, and humor, with poetry mixed in for flavor.

I began writing fiction in the 5th grade when I filled a composition book with a science fiction adventure story, Mission to Mars. This story was popular with my classmates, quite possibly because I used them for the characters in my tale. (Such a gimmick is workable with a projected audience of twenty, but not practical for the magazine and novel market)

I wrote until graduating high school, took a break from it to spend some time with my Uncle Sam, and resumed writing after military service for a year or so. Then I took another little break... about twenty years.

In late 1997 I discovered The Writers Club (#the_writersclub), an IRC chat room on Dalnet ( Dalnet IRC) and was encouraged to begin submitting my work. In the spring of 1998 my first poems were accepted, followed by short stories, and I've been writing and submitting ever since. (Though I go through spells of low work output:-)
