Dave's Flyers Fight Page IV
"It was a brawl and
they just didn't have enough fighters out there."
-Roger Neilson after the Flyers/Leafs brawl
My unedited rants:
10/11/00:
Well, two fights in three games. A lot quicker start then last year. Gotta admitt to you, I thought this year was going to be a real bust. I unfortunately haven't really gotten prepared for the begining of this seasons. I have a few changes I am still trying to work on. Anyway, I gotta get these two up.
The first happened in the second game of the year, a small tussel between former combatants Luke Richardson and Ken Belanger. They come together halfway through the first, along the far boards. Seems like nothing but the camera pans back and they're going at it. Belanger gets two quick rights off, not really landing anything and Luke counters with a weak left. Belanger takes this oppurtunity to unload with an unholy berrage of lefts catching Luke with three real nice shots. Luke manages to push him away and throws two rights that miss only to get smacked by a Belanger counter right. Luke gets in one right, then throws two misses before he asks for a tie up. Gotta give it to Belanger. Hope Luke regains last years form!!!!
The second happened tonight as Gino Odjick got his first start of the season (replacing Hubachek). Obviously trying to protect his job, Odjick dropped them early (actually late in the first) with big Andy Sutton. There really wasn't any provocation, just two guys who wanted (needed) to fight. Odjick skates deep into the Wild zone, giving Sutton a nice shot at the end of his effort. Sutton didn't seem to mind but as they headed up the ice, Odjick kept talking. That's when the gloves fell. Both men tied up quick, choosing to go in tight. You really have to give Sutton credit for aggressiveness and smarts as he seemed the more technical iutton started the action withthree nice lefts, landing two. Odjick countered with a couple of his own, landing four, three real nice, one on the chin. Sutton swithced to the right, got Odjick's helmet off and landed two good rights. When he went for the hatrick, Odjick countered with a nice left cross catching Sutton on the chin. Odjick landed the better of the two but I still have to call it a draw. The good shots were really about three to two Odjick but you gotta give Sutton credit as he seemed the more aggressive and technical in this one.
I didn't read much on the Flyers this preseason, but there was one quote I did see. When asked about a tough guy, Ramsay said "I don't think we need one guy out there who's tough but can't play hockey." That means Odjick will see limitted time, Clarke still dosen't believe they need an enforcer, and Luke is still our only hope.
Top Five Reasons Bob Clarke SUCKS!
1. The Gratton trade.
2. Misssing out on Bourqe.
3. 'Cause he needed Schultz to fight for him and doesn't realize it.
4. How many more ex-Flyers can we get?
5. Do you really think he can put together a Stanley Cup team.......
JAY SNIDER WAS RIGHT!!!! Fire his ass!!
12/11/99:
Second point, how stupid are the/ you Leafs fans who attended the Air Canada Centre that night? Were you really chanting "domi, domi, domi"? I know beer's cheap in Canada but how the hell drunk was everyone? Did you even watch the game? Did you honesty believe dummi proved himself anything other then a cowardly, skirt wearin', ass pirate as he was strutting around and you were cheering? Give me a break!
And lastly, good ole Pat Quinn. Why don't you just shut the hell up you stupid hypocrite! Maybe everyone will still think you have at least half a brain that way. How dumb can you be? You saw domi go and talk to McCarthy just before Neilson put him out there. You had the last line change. Where was Kris King? Stop all your stupid chatter, it really is annoying.
Quick side not... everyone saw domi do the six shooter, but did you see McCarthy respond with the chicken dance????
tie "I'm a little pickle chuggin', panty wearin', ugly Victoria Secret model who couldn't beat up a Backstreet boy" domi has just lost any credibility as an NHL tough guy. What a little P****!!! He ranks right up there with Darcy Tucker!!!!! I will never again mention that little prick on this page!! I only hope Bob Probert saw the game and can feel a bit warm inside. What happened in the Flyers game tonight was a complete travesty. It was an act of a once venerable "tough guy" as he came out of the closet. Tiger Williams would shit himself if he saw how domi ran from, not two, but THREE (to include Luke Richardson) Flyers tonight and opted to be the "third man in" against Adam Burt instead.
OK Here's the skinny. Eric Lindros lays a nice hit putting #21 and Igor Korolev down to the ice. Karpovtsev then goes for revenge aiming for Lindros' knee. Not liking it, Lindros drops the gloves quick and takes on Karpovtsev. Lindros gets in a quick right then switches to the left. After missing with a left, he goes back to the right and lands two more to the chin. Karpovtsev counters with two missed lefts, they dance, then Lindros nails another right. As the linesman jump in (early), Lindros lands another left.
On the issuing face off, domi and McCarthy line up. McCarthy gets kicked out and Berube comes up to take his place. After the puck is dropped, Berube takes a shot at domi and the melee begins. Berube chases domi and drops his gloves. McCarthy, seeing no one has engaged yet, pushes Berube away and sets his eyes on domi. domi, the once fearless tough guy pusses out and fakes a glove drop as he skates away. The melee breaks out and everyone pairs up. Richardson grabs Johnson and Lankgow goes with Yuskevich. From what I saw, Langkow lands a right to Yushkevich and Richardson pops Johnson with a right. Berube was paired up with Khristich. That's when Spice Girl domi decided to get involved. Instead of going with McCarthy, he out skates him and blind sides Berube (who was already paired up). Berube gets in a nice right as he sees domi coming and McCarthy follows up pulling off Khristich. At this point the linesman really screw up as they get separated and one jumps on Berube/domi and pulls them down and the other grabs McCarthy and tries to get him away from Khristich. McCarthy lands two on Khristich (which wouldn't have happened if p**** domi just went with him) and Berube falls with domi on top. This is where domi pulls the second of many lame moves of this melee. With Berube on the ice, and a linesman on top, he headbutts Berube (I guess that's where he got that nice cut!!!!) and takes a shot with the right. At this point, Boucher meets up with Joseph and they start to dance. The camera then pans away just in time to catch domi, who the linesman let up without Berube, go after ADAM BURT, who's already tied up with Tomas Tomas Kaberle. domi then throws four shots at an already tied up ADAM BURT, two after he's already turtelled from the pressure. And then the ultimate PUSSY move. tie domi hides behind Kaberle as the fierce Luke Richardson comes to the aide of Burt. He actually pushed #15 in front of him to escape tough guy Luke Richardson. After running from Richardson like a schoolgirl, he then has the balls to jaw at McCarthy as he's being held back by the linesman! If that wasn't enough, the new top wuss of the NHL then tries to jump in with Brian Boucher when he's already tied up with Curtis Joseph!!! I guess he just wanted to add another tough bout to his card. I absolutely couldn't believe what I saw!! This was the most pathetic exhibition from someone who's supposed to be fearless I have ever seen! tie domi is the biggest pussy in the NHL!
The Lists are back. Check them out for... '99-'00, '98-'99, and '97-'98.
Here are some more rules changes I'd like to see:
1. Get rid of the instigator rule.
Let them go!! Coates' Right...... Let 'Em Fight!!!!!
2. Let the goalie get hit outside the crease. They're getting
way too cocky.
3. Get rid of the game misconduct for going at it after the
first two pair off.
4. Keep the linesman out of it!! They only end up getting
someone hurt anyway.
5. Ban tie"I'm a little Spice Girl (Chicken Spice)"
domi!
