On TV, the Z-Man was being buried by Bill Watts and Dusty Rhodes as they competed to push their sons (Erik Watts and Dustin Rhodes) to the top babyface positon. So the Z-Man wasn't receiving much of a push in the WCW comics either.
This
is how the Z-Man was buried again in Vol 1 No 2, May, 1992.
"The
best of WCW"
Lex Luger is the current world champ. In this title match, Luger faces three challengers - "the best of WCW" - being The Z-Man, Ron Simmons and Sting. The title can only change by pinfall or submission. Luger wrestles one man at a time and the second or third man may only enter after a fall. The Z-Man is the first challenger but destined to last only a few frames... |
|
Sting lasts a few
frames longer but is catapulted into an exposed steel turnbuckle as he
goes for his big splash - "what a cheap victory."
That leaves Ron Simmons ..... "Simmons is not yet fully recovered from the neck and spinal injuries inflicted at the hands of Luger..."
|
Sting is stretchered out. |
"And now it's time
for Simmons to get the attitude adjustment...No! Not Again! This is terrible!
Luger's re-injuring the back and neck - still not fully healed."
"I've beaten them
all! and when you've beaten the best...You ARE the best...and I am the
BEST!!"
