Subject: TV/HJ/M.I. - CREATIVE WRITING

With 14 years as a front line wrestling talent, and now experiencing a renewed impulse to entertain, I think we should talk.

I understand that WWF, in addition to maintaining its current high quality programming, is seeking to develop a new WCW program that appeals not only to its key demographic in the 12-34 age group but also to a core of loyal WCW fans with a preference for a distinctly ‘regional’ brand of wrestling.  Having worked in both WWF and WCW, I am well placed to help in the development of storylines and angles that can satisfy both markets in one integrated high quality product. In that context I look forward to WWF’s imminent signing of Ric Flair and Bill Goldberg.

I’m particularly keen to contribute to the development and delivery of fresh and coherent storylines. I am experienced in writing scripts and promos that successfully draw heat from people who ought to know better, such as Eric Bischoff, DDP, Dusty Rhodes,Bob Ryder, and your own Jim Ross. In short, I possess a key skill for writing for wrestling – the ability to push people’s buttons and provoke an entirely disproportionate reaction.

I will bring to the company exceptional personal and networking skills. I excel in small head-to-head team situations, working to tight production deadlines. Additionally, I relate to and interface easily at all levels including top executive levels. I have the requisite knowledge and skills in human resource management to maintain an organized locker room, no matter how inequitable the pay structure. In addition, I possess detailed knowledge of wrestlers (and promoters) who use street drugs, steroids, pain killers, etc., and can handle and advise them in a professional manner, while continuing to protect them - and the company - from public exposure. I am, of course, willing to swear loyalty to VKM above the law as required in the job description - (refer personal reference from VKM).

Re salary – I understand that, in the current financial circumstances, this is not subject to negotiation. I would however request consideration of contract terms in excess of a face to face meeting with a firm hand shake and $50.00 for TV. Given your expectation that WCW will draw less than half the rating points of the WWF, I accept that contract terms are subject to sudden restructuring and my possible future reassignment to another successful WWF product division.

In the spirit of Jim Ross’s call for “a certain degree of sacrifice” from all WWF staff. I am, of course, free to travel coach class as required

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your call.

Sincerely,

Tom Zenk
