Dave Bing
Member of the Basketball Hall of Fame
After graduating from Syracuse, Bing was selcted overall by the Detroit Pistons in 1966 and went on to win the 1966'-67 Rookie of the Year. In a decade with Detroit, Bing was a six-time all-star before being traded to the Washington Bullets in 1975. He was an all-star again in 1976 and won the All-Star Game M.V.P. award. He closed his career with the Celtics. Following his retirement, Bing opened Bing Steel in Detroit and within ten years became on of the leading African-American businessmen in the country. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990.
