Campaneris played shortstop for the Kansas City/Oakland A's (1964-'79), Texas Rangers (1977-'79), California Angels (1979-'81) and the New York Yankees (1983). In 19 major league seasons, Campaneris stole 649 career bases and led the American League in 1965, '66, '67, '68, '70 and '72. He led the league in hits in 1968 and was an All-Star in 1968, '72, '73, '74, '75 and '77. On September 8, 1965, Campaneris became the first major league player to play all nine positions in the same game.
