Billy Cunningham

Cunningham played his college ball at North Carolina, and was a second team All-America selection in 1965. That same year, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and became the team's sixth man. In his sophomore season, the 76ers won the N.B.A. championship. Cunningham moved to the A.B.A. in 1972 and joined the Carolina Cougars. He was selected the league M.V.P. for the 1972-73 season. He returned to the 76ers in 1974 and retired due to injury in 1975. Cunningham was named head coach of the 76ers on November 4, 1977 and led the team to the N.B.A. champion ship in 1982-83. Cunningham was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985.
