Rick Davis
Captain of the U.S. National Soccer Team
He was known as America's "Mr. Soccer" for most of the late seventies and
early eighties. Davis played for the legendary Cosmos of New York from 1977-83.
Following his tenure with the Cosmos, Davis played with the St. Louis Steamers of
the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) from 1983-1987 and with the Tacoma Stars (MISL)
from 1987-90. Davis also amassed extensive international experience during his time
in the National Team system. Davis played and served as captain for the U.S. National
Youth squad from 1976-77. He was also a member of the U.S. Olympic Team (1977-88)
serving as captain for the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California
and Seoul, Korea, respectively. Davis earned a total of 49 caps as a member of the
U.S. National Team (1978-90), serving as captain for the majority of his tenure with
the squad.
